Jonny D goes international
So I’m Facebook chatting with my boy Jimmy, who, after graduating with his economics degree, went over to Korea to teach English of all things (doesn’t make sense but he’s making bank right now so I’ll roll with it) and he tells me how he got called down to the principles office because he tried to use my GBTW as a teaching tool. Apparently GBTW is inappropriate for Korean middle school students…who knew?
I thought this was the end of GBTW reaching over seas…WRONG
Jimmy got back at me a couple days later and he was told me about this camp they have to teach at every year for a couple of days. At this camp they get to teach them whatever they want as long as it’s related to learning the English language and culture. Can you guess what these kids learned? That’s right….
“Art of the Blog”
Your boy has gone international. Winning.
These young Korean scholars spent a grand total of 3 hours and 30 minutes reading, analyzing, and discussing my writing. At first the students were confused to why he was teaching them this but he simply explained to them that he was the teacher and they were the students. Nuff said.
Jim decided to start of show them slaps for the holidays. This naturally started all the Korean middle school boys slapping each other until one kid started crying and Jim had to give him the “You’re a man and men don’t cry speech”. The kid didn’t understand but he quit crying.
For some substance he printed off Peer pressure is one hell of a drug and had them read it then write what the author was trying to convey.
I’m told some of them actually got it. They were confused about a foam party…and suburban white girls blasting rap music. Jim being the excellent educator decided to hit them with some Youtube videos of Jay Z and D12. Way to go Jim…
Here’s a few more pictures from the class.
The whole class…
This kid is dressed for success. Vest, collar, suit coat with the little crest.. Probably the alpha male of the class. My bet is he did the majority of the slapping.
Some class discussion about the blog. Homeboy with the paper obviously Isn’t participating. He should probably get a failing grade for the course…
Lets Review
1. Korea loves Jonny Durango. It says so on the chalk board so it has to be fact.
2. Korean kids love slapping each other.
3. Jimmy aka Jimmy Chonga is probably going to get fired….
